VORTEX ICT 2018
Institute of Chemical Technology was established on October 1, 1933 as the UDCT–University Department of Chemical Technology of the University of Bombay (now Mumbai), with the noble intention of advancing India's knowledge reserves in chemical science and technology. The Institute has grown to become a premier (deemed) university devoted to education, training, research and industrial collaboration in chemical engineering, chemical technology, applied chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology and bio-processing. The list of achievements of this great center of learning is voluminous and ever since its inception, the Institute has been a fertile breeding ground for some of India's most gifted minds. The Institute's alumni have distinguished themselves in all walks of life, be it in industry, academia, government or public service in India as well as abroad. Some of the rare international honors have been bestowed upon them and some have been role models, serving the nation.
Chemical Engineering Department
The Chemical Engineering Department is the top-ranking Department in the Country by all the standards: teaching, research, and industrial relationship, as has been rated by the international surveys conducted by Professor Jude Sommerfield of Georgia Tech, USA since 1964 for every five-year period as well as every year since 2000. During last 5 years, more than 400 peer-reviewed international papers have been published and more than 60 sponsored research projects have been successfully completed.
IIChE, MUMBAI REGIONAL CENTRE
Mumbai Regional Centre, established in the year 1957, is one of the biggest centers of IIChE in India with about 15% membership. The current executive committee of the MRC is a broad-based and finely balanced mixture of Chemical Engineering professionals drawn from the three streams of Academia, Research and Industry. The center is actively involved in arranging different activities for students and professionals including the flagship events of OYCE and symposium on Energy and Water.
